The ocean breeze was crisp with the cooling weather. Waves crashed down onto the beach and the salt thickened the air around her. Really this was one of her favorite places to go. It had been weeks since she had left the safety of the mall and really the she-wolf welcomed the break. It had all been so smothering being surrounded by a pack again. She sat on the sand her feet stretched out to meet the incoming water. Of course sitting out here, supposedly unarmed, wasn’t that smart with all the enemies walking around. Of course at least now she didn’t have to worry about the humans, at least she didn’t think she did. Jessi sighed and laid back resting her head on her arms as she watched the clouds move on by. It was a relaxing place to be and she enjoyed the sultry sound of the waves on the earth.
Birds flew overhead and she watched the clouds take shapes, this all seemed way to gentle for the time of world they were living in. People were around her, walking, watching, sitting, some doing the same as the she-wolf. Letting the water lick up their bodies on the sad, some even going into the water fully in their swim suits. It was getting way to cold for swimming in Jessi’s opinion but if they wanted to catch cold that was all up to them. Her gold eyes scanned around her looking for anyone besides human. Nothing but human came back to her on the air but that didn’t mean that they weren’t out there somewhere. Wolves would be out in bunches while in the daylight.
She sat up and splashed her feet in the water with a small smile. Then she scooted back in the sand and reached for her socks and boots. Really she had just meant to go out for a walk not to sit down and have a few hours to herself, though that had been a welcomed repreave. A human child approached her and she smiled. “Hey where is you mommy?” she asked in her southern drawl. The little girl smiled at her and pointed back the way she had come. Finishing up with her boots Jessi stood and picked up her jacket as she straightened. She took the child’s hand and lead her back to her mother who gave Jessi a thankful smile. The she-wolf returned it then turned to walk back down the way she had come. She wasn’t ready to go back to the base yet, so wandering around this area sounded rather good to her.
For some reason though she didn’t wander far. Just far enough to take a seat on the wall that marked where the sand met the street. She took a seat her coat hanging down beside her, it wasn’t cold enough for the trench but she didn’t go anywhere without it, never knew how late she would stay out. The sun was a still a couple hours from setting but that didn’t much matter. Jessi watched the sky again before turning her attention to those around her. Humans were easy creatures to be around. Never had to worry about them suspecting she was something else or randomly attacking her. Made it a little easier in this time. But the humans were also meant to be their allies. Jessi still didn’t much are for that idea but it was better then nothing against the angels.
