Josie smiled sadly, she had asked if he had a home, friends, people he held dear, such a shame he truly had none of these. His heart was an empty void, in which no one dwelled anymore, and probably never will… His so called home was as futile as his dreams of a family, A family in which his children would never be harmed. Letting his hair fall over his face like a veil, Josie sat in silence for a moment; she had hit the nail right on his head. Truly what was his prose now? All he had was music, and that was it, after he was gone there would be nothing left, no legacy. He knees she was awaiting a response but honestly for once Josie had no idea what to say, he had no one.
Looking up for a moment to reply He felt warm tears trickle down his emotional mask, the words she had spoken were like shards of a blade, puncturing his hollow heart. With no more than a whisper the musician replied. “My second trade is war, born and bred to be a weapon, yet it’s a nature I have no desire to do. As for a home, they say that home is where the heart is, yet I have no ties with my heart and as such I have no home, what I posses is a simple house to retreat into. As for loved ones, no I am alone, and have no one I hold dear, no one to care for, and no one to protect. I am but without a true purpose, and as such not of this world, for without a purpose humans are nothing.”
Josie paused, his own words were stabbing him as well, “Yet I carry on, seeking a purpose, seeking a home, seeking those who I shall hold dear in my heart, The future is a strange place. It can hold so many wondrous things, yet be our doom as well. Some think, being detached emotionally makes them strong, that isn’t true, it weakens the soul, And defeats the purpose of existence. At times, what motivated victories was the risk of losing those we most hold dear, and as such a winner take all clause is established. And if we live without love, we end up hurting those around us, for we don’t care what happens to others.”
Josie felt the tears dry up and his mask torn apart to reveal his true nature. “You say that life is a chess board in which the path is laid out, no it isn’t true, we are driven by one thing that makes it seem like a one way road. Fear is this evil, yet once fear is conquered true capabilities are unlocked, and endless doors are opened to our minds. Once you take that necessary decision in life, that is behind your mind all this time, locked away, yet deep inside you know what it is, the true game begins.” Josie paused listening to the winds fall outside and a small breeze chill him to the bone motivating him to reach into the fire. “So I ask of you, what are your plans in this world, when I see you have no weapon. I might as well part with one.” Josie reached into a strap and made sure it was filled with 3 silver lined daggers all perfectly balance before carefully placing it a Vidia’s feet. “Can’t let you die so easily, I see it in your eyes, somewhere deep inside, there is still a small ember of a desire to live, then again I may be wrong.”
“One more thing, suffering is necessary for survival as well, a happy world would fall apart, due to no desire to obtain anything, and as such society will regress. Not that it justifies any evil actions, yet it’s how the world naturally balances itself out.” Josie leaned back against the altar and observed both Vidia and the fire wondering, what the future did indeed have in store.
