There was a moment of silence. Nothing moved, no sound was made…only distant sound of cries. She felt her brother bring hand over hers. It was cold. Werewolves were usually hotter than humans but he was cold as ice, cold as the freezing cold of memory that trapped him in that moment when he was forced to take his mate’s life. It fell on her like a rock. Oriana wanted to help her family but she couldn’t. How could she? She wasn’t their true family and she couldn’t relate to this…not in any way.
She forced herself few years ago to come to terms that he was dead. It pained her still that she did not know what happened or how. It stung every day…no matter how much she buried it. But this …There were no words she could use to ease them, no touch that could comfort completely. It was only in her power to be there for their sorrow and anger and somehow let them know she would be there whenever they need it.
Her eyes drifted the kids. The depth of pain was so vast…Isabeya stood still as a statue. Oriana knew that stance, that stone front you lock yourself in so none could see how you sob and scream inside. She had it when Kouhei died and functioned robotically with a perfect appearance of serenity even though she boiled inside. Was there no mercy left in the world for its inhabitants? Was there nothing but suffering? She closed her eyes and took a breath…
Growl snapped her eyes open. She felt shiver of it pass through his muscles even before it sounded. Oriana knew this growl. In next second he was charging into the building. Fuck!
“Seth, Moni DO NOT move” she yelled not waiting a second more. Jerome was like this only on few occasions. One was someone stepping on his bad side and other vampires. Since no one had threatened his kids or insulted him only the other option was vampire. She instantly drew her sword out.
BANG!
She wanted to run there but instead Oriana positioned herself between the others and the building. Who ever was there... would pay or all of the anger her brother had, for all the torment of this day. Years ago she would have ran in to stop him. But time changed many things. Oriana simply waited. This was a good vent for Jerome…and she had not forgotten that one of them tried taking her life and humanity. If she could – she’d kill them all.
Crash!
Glass exploded as the body was thrown out, already broken and bloody. It didn’t take long for him to combust and dust, sludge of red only thing to remain. Her violet eyes looked at the remains with no emotion as tip of her sword poked through the disgusting pile. It was as dead as a rock.
The purple gaze looked up then at Jerome, his rabid face. Eyes that were cold for the vampire softened. She didn’t tell him to let go or calm down… he had two teenage reasons for that. He needed to let it out, to let loose of the rage and be wild. She just watched, directly staring into his eyes with care. The only word that past her lips was a loving whisper
“Jerome…”
