The vampire didn't come after them. Good, he could get the kid some food and clothes. Jerome only knew one man who could provide those essentials on demand. That was his old friend Brick. All he had to do was get to his apartment building. They were close anyway, he been running full speed for a good 10 minutes. They had covered alot of distance in that short time, and now Brick's building lay only a few blocks away. Jerome knew his old buddy always had spare clothes, not to mention he always had food. The lycan had no clue how he got it, but he didn't care either.
Finally, they were there. "Hold on little man." With that Jerome jumped off the building towards the ground. He impacted softly, not wanting to shake the kid up anymore than he already was. Carefully he looked around the street, making sure it was safe. After a few moments, he started walking across the pavement towards Brick's place. As he got within a few meters of the door, a man stepped out. "Ah, what's goin on Romey?." He said in a friendly voice, although his look was anything but that. The two pistols strapped to his hip, not to mention the leather jacket and torn jeans he wore gave him a gritty look. "Who's the kid?"
"Found him a few miles back wandering. Seems like his parents aren't around. I need to see Brick, is he in?" The guard nodded and cleared his throat.
"He's in his room. Go right on up."
All the guards knew Jerome in this place and they all gave him tons of respect. He kept the place immortal free and he had saved some of the them from their deaths. As they walked through the front door Jerome looked around. A smile etched it's way on his lips. This place felt like home to him. Brick housed several families in this building, and he even kept a room personally for Jerome. Brick's room was on the first floor. The man thought it was better for the more elderly tenants so they could reach him.
"ggggrrrr!" A tiny voice growled at him. he turned and looked at her. A little brunette girl at the age of five was growling at Jerome like a little wolf. She wore a pink tee shirt and grey sweats. He knew her. Jerome had found her running from a hungry vampire several months ago. He killed the leech and saved her. The lycan was in his wolf form at the time. Ever since that day she called him teddy and lit up like a Christmas tree when he was around. Jerome remembered bringing her here, only to find the girls mother in tears. The relief, happiness, and gratitude that Jerome had seen was enough to give mount Everest a run for its money.
The lycan gave the girl a full wolf growl in response. As soon as Jerome growled at the girl she giggled. Quickly, the little girl ran up and hugged his leg tightly. She looked up at him with a glow in her eyes. " Where have you been Teddy? You've been gone for a week!" Jerome smiled warmly at the little girl and knelt down.
"I've been a little busy Anna." He poked her tummy and she giggled once again in response. "I'll come by tomorrow and we'll hang out all day ok?" After hearing those words she smiled widely and hugged him again.
Anna looked up at Marius hiding. "Who's that?" She tilted her head and tried to get a look at his the boy. The innocent curiosity on her face could melt hearts.
"This is, well i don't know his name." Jerome looked at the kid in his arms. "It's ok. You can say hi." He turned a little so Marius could get a look at the Anna.
