(Remember, this is all in character. Also, Greggory [now] is a very, extremely well-known and respected vampire and member of the council. He is a charming man, handsome and strong. Being very charismatic, he has the ability to win the hearts of many. He is known to not feed on humans, but instead on animals. He is very diplomatic and has no enemies. He is a man of kindness and lightheartedness. When many see him, they find it near impossible not to smile at him. Since he is a vampire, this speech takes place at night.)
"Fellow New Yorkers, this is a time of peace, a time of kindness and giving. All year it is Thanksgiving and I give thanks to all of those who have upheld this beautiful peace. We have all seen our hardships; we have all seen enough violence to last us forever. These past seventeen years have put an end to all that unnecessary bloodshed. I know I for one can say that I have never felt this much at peace since I was a young boy, still a mere mortal and unknowing of the brutal war that was taking place in my backyard. It's a beautiful and serene time we are now living in and those who are born into this age are born into a time of peace.
"I want us all to recognize this peace and hold tight onto it. There has been a few moments in time during this peace in which I have questioned what we truly want, but as I see you all here, listening and nodding and understanding the importance of this, I see that those who WANT this peace to continue outnumber those who try to sabotage it.
"I say to you all now that we must continue to fight for this sanctuary. We do not fight them with violence... Instead we will fight them by showing them that their threats and actions against us do not falter us. Through their brutality, we will respond by coming even closer together and showing them that no matter what they do, they cannot and will not separate us.
"Thank you."
(More speeches by Greggory Smith are due to be given in two days time.)
(Also, I made this a thread to give people the opportunity to have their characters directly react to the speech. Greggory will not be posting in this thread again, for he has walked off with his men and left the audience. Please feel free to post in this thread as you like. I would highly recommend doing so as well.)
