(This is the second speech by Greggory Smith. Tonight, he is much more grim, clad in a sharp, black suit. Even though the man is already pale, tonight, his skin seems older and weighed down by grief. The average air about him is saddening. When he speaks, his voice is soft, but strong enough for everyone to hear. It drips with mourning.)
"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much for coming out this night to listen to my words. I wish I could reward you you pleasant news, but unfortunately I have nothing good to say this evening. What I have to tell you is of terrible, terrible news. I wish I didn't have to tell you this, but I figured that since it needs to be said, it might as well be said by me.
"...Three council members have died... No. Three council members have been murdered. Alistair of the human council... and Arabella and Marcus of the vampire council. They have been slain -- stripped from the face of this earth, and only because they believed in something. Peace. They believed in peace and they had been killed because of it. I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of those council members. I have shed my tears for them, and I am not ashamed of it.
"But what I am ashamed of is the fact that we have not caught the culprit or culprits. We are left without evidence as to who commit these terrible and heinous crimes. I am left in even more despair that we cannot bring those brave council members to justice. Unless we bring those murderers to justice, we cannot rest.
"I have been in contact with authorities and I can assure you that we have the best people working on solving this case. I can only hope -- only pray -- that they will uphold our expectations and bring these barbarians in for our justice. The victims deserve that.
"It is in times like these that we must be strong -- that we must show them that even though the threaten us with violence, we will not waver but instead grow bolder. Instead of cowering away from their madness, we will fight back -- fight back with our peace, for it is stronger than any evil out there. I can assure you that with us standing together, we can overcome anything and those council members would not have died in vain.
"Thank you."
(Greggory is scheduled to give his next speech in two days time.)
