Midnight. The worst damn fuckin time to be awake. And yet there the sunbeam sat at the table with a cup of coffee. Steam rose from it as she sat there in her t-shirt and jeans with no shoes but slippers. “Creamer?” the tall Spaniard asked her. Angelis looked up at Kevin with a shake of her head. “Thanks though Kev. I take it black you should know this by now.” Kevin gave that bass rumble of a laugh and turned to put creamer into his own coffee. This was her normal stay up late partner. None of the other beasts were ever up late except for them. Gave them free rain to the kitchen though. Right now he was making them some cooked meat, of course he wouldn’t tell her what said meat was. The damned caiman would eat anything. Angelis herself wasn’t too picky but her beast was. It liked meat but it preferred rodents.
“You should add sugar then.” His deep voice rang out and Ange looked up at him. “Now why would I do that?” she gave a chuckle and took another sip of her black coffee. He made it strong just how she liked it and tainting it with other things would be scandaless. “Sauce?” he asked flipping the meat over it just barely browning on the side. “There should be barbeque in the cupboard for you dear.” Ange said and reached for the book she had been reading before he came in. “You don’t want any?” Kevin turned to look at her his lithe six foot three frame leaning against the counter. Angelis turned on her chair and looked at him. He was almost a foot taller then her, shy by one inch but she didn’t care about that, she wasn’t scared of him. “Kevin you know you are lucky to even get me to eat that.” She said with a laugh and took another sip of coffee.
The caiman sighed and gave a shrug. He didn’t fully understand the female but that didn’t really matter. What was important was that she was back again after being away for a couple of days. He still hadn’t asked where she had gone nor did he plan to. Taking the meat from the stove he placed them on plates and walked towards the table. Setting the plates down he went and got knives and forks for them. “Water?” that was a normal thing for the sunbeam to ask for when eating. “Sure dear.” She said with a smile and set her coffee down. It was so fuckin cold she was half tempted to go to her room and get her hoodie, that was when she remembered it had been destroyed the other day when she had shifted, fuck she would need a new one. Her tongue flicked out tasting the air. There was the meat, Kevin, herself, and then something else hit the senses. Someone else was either up and moving around or had just arrived.
Cutting her steak in half she pushed half away. Angelis didn’t eat much let along a portion the size he had given her. Taking her first bite she winced. Nope not something her beast wanted but the other had been kind enough to cook it for her so why not. Granted cook wasn’t the word when it was still bloody and barely brown on either side that had touched the heat. “There is someone else here.” The caiman said his hearing better then her own. The snake nodded and took another bite. If they meant harm so be it but she really hoped the didn’t.
