“he who rebels against instruction and punishment is either exiled or condemned to death under the idea he is incurable.” Page 67 of Plato’s Protagoras. The concept ran through Ra’Lane’s head as he walked through the building known as a Museum. Plato’s book on Socrates’s ideals was one of many books on what humans called philosophy that intrigued him. After researching the society of this world, he found the link between that concept and the current situation remarkable.
This “war” the beings of this world seemed to compete in was nothing more then a large scale version of the concept that whoever can not fit the society’s morals and standards should be removed from the society. None of the sides agreed, therefore they fight in a attempt to remove the other from society.
The small angel picked up what the plate called, “Black Powder Rifle”. He analyzed the mechanisms a bit, then put it back. Then he went back to his favorite piece of proof that his theory was correct, a noose used from the Salem Witch trials of 1692. After reading the history of the incident, he was amazed the humans had recovered it. Humans often took inaccurate and what modern humans call “barbaric” methods to try to control what they called the supernatural. Simply, in all honesty, all that is, is the concept of removing anyone who they assumed didn’t fit into the standards of their society, from their society.
How different the angels were in his mind. We fight because we want to, it is in our blood. We take slaves to do menial tasks, we don’t imprison or kill just for the sake of it. This race seemed to Ra’Lane to be more of a race of artists and creativity in a peaceful society. Art, science, math, philopshy, their historical libraries, all of them were done primarily during times of piece with the occasional exceptions. Such a society, was unique and strange to Ra’Lane. He walked up to the nearest painting and stared, why are they so different?
