“Nyah~…Isith bored…”, said the yawning girl in a timid yet playful voice as her eyelids parted to reveal the glorious golden pupils behind them. Her purple lips and hair were tightly bound at her center while she lay in the corner of her home.
Uncoiling herself from the sleeping position she took up in the corner of her home, the four foot tall woman stretched her limbs and curled her toes to prepare for another day of life. Isadora had adapted well to her new life, despite it being mostly in the basement of her old apartment building. Surviving mostly from the stray rats and other things that managed to wander into the area near her makeshift home, she had even overcome the unnatural and at times frightening food cravings she found herself having. It was a life of choice and freedom, something she truly enjoyed and could think of nothing, or no place she would rather be.
Her home consisted of…well not much to be honest. There were low burning candles all over the dirt floor of the 100x100ft area of the room, all different heights from being burned for longer stretches of time. Two six foot tall clothing chests were against the southern brick wall, mahogany and rather in disrepair since it had been dragged from one of the many vacated apartments in the building. The windows here were boarded up, and reinforced with more boards after the girl moved in, to be sure to keep all the wolves and other nasty creatures out of her space. The only way in and out of the place was through a crawl space, perhaps a foot from the ground which lead through a five foot tunnel into the alley behind the building. A thin stone slab was moved to cover this opening, keeping out the chilled air outside, as well as any moisture or war seeking creatures of the night…or day for that matter!
Springing to her feet with a satisfied sigh, the girl allowed a cheerful smile to grace her lips as she looked across the valley of candles in her room. The light of the candles caused her bright pupils to glow slightly while she paused to appreciate the sight, she was quite comfortable. Her bare toes curled into the dirt under her feet as she often did, since she preferred to go barefoot these days. The feel of the world around her appealed to her more, this jungle of New York was now as open and natural to her as the forests of Montana she had wandered through as a girl. Although, in Montana she at least had a decent wardrobe, which was something she had taken for granted, but now would kill for...and might have to!
Raising her arms, she folded her hands behind her head, allowing her pinky fingers to trace the base of the curved horns stretching from her skull. Often she had wondered if she could pierce or decorate them in some way, but never acted on her thoughts. Her golden pupils scanned her being for a moment as best she could, noting the dark blue baggy cargo pants she wore, along with a matching halter top. Sure it was all she had, and she knew that, but wouldn’t it at least have a nice change of clothing from time to time? For example, her only accessory was the golden bell she had stolen from the wolf who invaded her original apartment, and though she always found that as a source of entertainment in her more dark hours of boredom, the rest of her clothing was quite dull to her now.
“Ssssk~(mild hissing sound)…Shopping time!” Proclaimed the girl with a wide smile and childish giggle while throwing her hands up into the air in a victorious manner, her hands clenched into tight fists. The girls black forked tongue had only just developed and she found the practice of tasting her smells rather…well odd to say the absolute least.
The only things in her clothing chests were bags and underwear she had taken from her apartment and the local stores. Though many of the stores had been abandoned, they still held much of their inventory, which provided a very fertile looting ground for Isith, as well as other wandering individuals. After taking a simple backpack from her chest, she slung it over her right shoulder and slipped the cover from the exit to her home. By crawling into the cave backwards, she was able to wiggle her flexible and muscular body into the space, and close it off on her way out, finding herself now in the damp back alley of her apartment.
From either side of the alley, the streets could be seen, empty for the most part with the shambled automobile here and there. The nights sky was littered with stars, while the usual howlings could be heard off in the distance. Treading towards the northern end of the alley and taking a happy-go-lucky pace into her familiar new environment, she headed towards the clothing boutique two blocks away and thinking to herself.
“Such a lovely night…maybe Isith will get some company…hehe” A fanged grin pierced her happy expression, and the girl was on her way.
