The footsteps making soft thudding sounds told Lexii that she was indeed, still alive. However, she had no idea if she was being followed or not. With no idea as to where she was headed, or where she wanted to go, she stopped when she found a playground that appeared to be empty and free of most debris. It was bare of most color and animal figures that adorned most parks, but she thought it to be a nice place to stop all the same. She took a seat on one of the empty swings, the breeze swaying the others in time to the trees' chorus of creaks and groans. The world around her was bare of life except for the occasional animal that skittered across the ground to reach their destination. Alone was the word to describe the newborn vampire.
Eyes staring ahead, to the buildings beyond on the dark horizon, she pressed her feet into the ground to keep her body still and unmoving. The slightest sound or movement could attract the unwanted in this quiet and peaceful, yet eerie place. She held her breath, a feeling of dread slowly creeping over her. A human was approaching, her scent on the wind and her steady paced heart beating an unmistakeable pattern into Lexii's ears. Her muscles tensed, waiting for the right moment to strike. A movement to the left caught her attention, and as her eyes flicked over to the spot, a small petite woman walked by. She continued on without a single glance in Lexii's direction. She hadn't moved, but when the scent and sound faded from her mind, her hands clasped around the chains of the swingset loosened and fell to her lap. It hadn't matter that she had fed earlier on in the night. The thirst was ever present, and it took her complete will and conentration to not attack.
Silence again. The only sound was that of the trees again, and the small squeaks of the merry-go-round stirring slightly in the wind. She felt pathetic in her attempts to not feed. They never worked for much longer than three or four days, and by then she was so thirsty that she ended up doing more damage to the things around her than if she had just kept up with her so called 'needs'. She had become a killer, and it weighed heavily on her conscious. When she closed her eyes, Lexii saw the faces of her victims, pale and lifeless. None were the same as the last, and no matter how hard she tried to shake them, they always found her again. If there was one thing she wished she could take back, it was going to that club and choosing to dance with the vampire that had turned her. At least that way, she wouldn't be hunted by the vampiress just for her to have her 'fun'.
A flower that had frozen during the night hours lay a few feet in front of Lexii, the tiny ice crystals sparkling in the moonlight catching her attention. She leaned forward slowly, reaching her hand out to break the stem and pull it closer. Sitting back up, she held it in the palm of her hand, looking down upon the small fragile piece. The white petals had been preserved in their original position, and the stem only slightly bent from the weight of the flower. A sigh escaped her lips, and her hand closed over the frozen plant harshly, turning it to a powder. There was beauty in death, but it wasn't a beauty that she wanted to see.
