The day was one that was typical to the winter season. The morning was bitter, the chilled air nipping at Raed's skin as she made her way out of the mall and into the world beyond. The city was still quiet, stunned into silence by the already outstandingly cold air. Raed could tell that the day was going to be a long, dry, bitter cold 24 hours and she was already enjoying it. It was weather like this that soothed the young woman, reminding her of the terrible winter nights in the Canadian wilderness. Memories floated back to her like old friends, gently creasing themselves into her mind. The crinkle of her father's sweet face, the unmistakeable sound of a hunting knife digging itself between the ribs of a fresh kill. It was relaxing for the redhead to think of such natural things.
As usual Raed did not wish to spend her time anywhere near the mall. It had become a place in which she could call 'home' and this alone irritated her. She had never had a home nor needed one and she certainly did not want one now. It was unfortunate that she was forced to be caged in there during the nights when she would've much preferred to sleep on the branch of a large, sturdy evergreen. But that was not an option and Raed did her best to adjust. As long as it wasn't night, however, she tried to stay away from the giant pile of scrap metal. Today she had made the decision to find her way towards the bay where she had been told that the water was dirty, polluted yet absolutely stunning when the sun hit it just right.
After about an hour long walk the pup found her way to the old bay where the boats used to come in with surpluses of goods and imports. It was surprising to Raed that the water was cleaner than she had heard, less pollution than she would've imagined there would be. Near to her she saw a protruding piece of land that ended in a worn down lighthouse that Raed had heard horrible stories about. No part of her had any desire to go anywhere near that place and she wrapped her heavy jacket slightly closer to her body, almost like a defense. She made her way over to the edge of the bay, on a wooden dock covered in algae and frozen ice, she went and stood over the water. Letting her feet hang just over the edge, Raed concentrated on putting all of her weight on the balls of her heels.
