She had come to a dead stop in her travels as she stood there. Her head was back, her eyes rolled back into her head and her mouth hung open. She had a sense of dread and mortification as her hands were looped through the straps of the ragged leather bag pack she was carrying with her. She was wearing a pair of loose fitting black cargo pants with her police issued boots. A simple black t-shirt under a black jean jacket that has seen better days and this wasn’t one of them. Her hair was tied back into a loose fitting bun and she was covered in dust, dirt and ash. Where had she stopped? Right on the edge of the river bank with her destination right on the other side, crap. She heard Miko making a whining sound as the black German Shepherd sat herself at her own heels. Yuki pushed her eyes forward and lowered her head back down. “I KNOW! I KNOW! WATER! LOTS OF IT!” She said getting mad at no one but herself at the moment. As she looked at the liquid she came to realize, she wished she remembered WHY she hated large bodies of water so much as she did. Knowing may help her resolve the issue and maybe get past it. Honestly, she can’t figure out what was so bad with it, there were worse things around then water, but once again her memory had failed her and with hope, after crossing this place maybe she can start remembering what she needs on the otherside, that or find herself a drink because she swore to god she needed something to relax her tension.
Yuki looked down the coast of the shoreline from where the sun usually came up. She could see the remaining bits of what was a bridge. Wonderful, if they were going to make her cross on a boat she already knew she was going to need to be sedated just to make it ONTO the damn thing. Yuki turned her head and spotted a bridge that was actually complete. Perhaps not in the best of conditions but then again she wasn’t one to complain when there was a way to avoid the swim across. She turned on her heels raising some dusty dirt as she began to walk towards it. She been walking for awhile now, ok maybe more but who was counting? She had learned a lot while traveling. One, the dog was useful as an alarm clock or a warning sign. She had come across a lot of nasty things out there that she didn’t remember having ever seen in any book. Yes, she did remember those kinds of things still. It was odd, her mind was capable of process things you would learn in school or even living as a person, but she couldn’t remember anything about herself, about who she was, what she was and the kind of person she was. She knew when she didn’t like something; her body naturally got a sick feeling, or as some would call it the gut feeling. Then there was the things she liked, she felt light headed as if she could just float right over to it.
Then, there were these abilities she never knew she had. Made you wonder, she had already heard from other survivors of this current war that she is referred to as a Superhuman, a being created to fight Immortals, but why? She couldn’t remember that or who actually created her. She couldn’t say she had any internal need to harm any immortal at the moment really, unless they did something to her she didn’t like. She finally made it to the start of the road that headed up towards the bridge and began crossing over the water. As her green eyes looked to it, she looked behind her towards Miko. The black dog had her nose heavy to the ground, smelling for anything approaching and as of right now the coast was clear, but there was no sense in underestimated that, because around her anything can happen on a turn of a dime. She ran her tongue across her lips as she looked back towards the bridge and with a deep sigh, she took those few steps and started walking towards the top. As soon as she did, she looked at the sad excuse of a bridge. She whined and turned around. “I rather not…” She started but Miko pushed her head against her side and began pushing her back. “Nnnnooooo….” She said in protest but it didn’t matter, she knew the dog was right. They had traveled all this way just to make it to this…lovely….city and if she turned back now she may as well hop into the water herself.
She sighed and turned around. “Fine….But your so not getting a cookie….” She said and Miko dropped her ears back against the top of her head and looked at Yuki with her brown eyes, yeah she didn’t believe her and she shouldn’t. She always gave her a cookie no matter what. She started walking again, now and then stopping to look at the large holes and down into the water. As she stood over one, she watched as a large chunk of rock rolled and fell off the edge and down into the water. Watching the rock crumble as it hit the surface made her swallow down hard. She didn’t like the fact the rock was able to break, but then again they were just that high up.
“Sure we can’t go back….Bridge doesn’t seem that safe….” She said biting her bottom lip. “I need a drink….Bad….” She said in a defeated voice.
