Of all the time she had lived in this city now the were-pup had yet to visit the library. Books had always fascinated her and that this four floured building was still standing made her wonder about it itself. Glancing at the shelves she felt the kick in her stomach area and a small smile crossed her lips. She was into her second trimester of the pregnancy almost to the third now. Though her mate had left the city and would probably never return this time Jessi refused to give up. Strike and others of the pack were there to help her if things got too rough. Turning and going down another isle the white wolfess was lost in her thoughts. She wasn’t even really looking at the titles of the books on the shelf before her but she knew they weren’t really what interested her. Looking around she found the stairs and made her way for them, no reason to stay on the floor that she didn’t really want to be in. there were other people around, mulling over the books in their lap and the shelves that held more of what they wanted. But she didn’t know any of them, and so she didn’t speak to any of them.
The sun peaked through the windows of the building lighting her way up the stairs and to the second floor. She had the guess that those few down there were humans or wolves that she wasn’t familiar with. But none of them smelt like wolves to her now very sensitive nose. There wasn’t a scent in the world that she couldn’t smell currently in her present state. Though the random cravings for food she could have lived without. Going to a shelf of books she found the label for fiction and smiled. The femme had always been more for fiction then non-fiction. Real life was hard enough without reading about other real life events. History wasn’t repeating itself but it wasn’t any better either. Sighing she turned to go and hunt down an author she was familiar with going back to the J’s in the alphabet. Going down the isle Jessi looked at the author names and titles until she found one that was familiar and she had actually read before. She had had a copy of it growing up that had been lost as she moved around. Pulling the book from the shelf she fingered through the first couple of pages until she found the beginning of the chapter.
Moving back the way she had come down the row the she wolf spotted a couch and smiled. “What is it with this place?” she asked aloud not expecting anyone to answer her. Taking a seat on the couch it gave under her weight like any good comfy couch would and she shook her head. “Of all the places still held together it is the place that is used the least.” Opening the book Jessi allowed herself to get lost in its pages. Luckily she had left the mall early in the morning to find this place and so she didn’t have to worry about darkness falling while she was reading. Though she did know that she would need to leave there still in the daylight and so paying attention to where the sun was in the sky would be key. No need to risk running into any vampires on her way back home. She couldn’t fight as well anymore with a protrusion from her belly. The pup was still getting used to the fact that she looked bigger around her mid section, she had never been one to put on weight, always being the one training to stay fit for battle.
A yawn escaped her lips and she shook her head, finding herself tired for some reason. Glancing down at her stomach she smiled. “You just love sending me into the unknown don’t you?” she asked the one inside her. He had gotten used to her voice and a slight kick let her know he had heard her. Eyelids began to drop over her green eyes but she fought to keep them open. The wolfess knew that if she fell asleep now she might wake up late. Someone to talk to would help her with her lack of energy upon sitting down but she wasn’t one for talking to strangers so she just returned to the book. But when her eyes tried to close again she closed the book and stood. “Alright I get it.” She said and set the book on a table and then stood. Stretching her arms over her head she headed for the stairs again and started down but being the clutz she was Jessi missed a step and fell down a couple of stairs. One of her hands braced on the banner trying to catch herself and the other made sure her stomach didn’t hit anything. “Damn that was close.”
