A week. He had been on this land for a week now and he was not feeling any better than from when he had first arrived. The black winged watcher scanned the area from the window in the room he had been granted upon arrival. That day with the other of his clan, well first clan, had been something he had not expected. Never before did he think he would enjoy another’s company but for some reason he had not so much minded the talks with this woman that day. Granted the chances of it happening again were slim. He was a solitary creature and even he knew that his lack of feelings for anything, even his companion animal that was sleeping on a post in a corner, was not something most called normal. But frankly Kane couldn’t care. He was the youngest of three and the only that had survived the internal fued. And it mattered not now unless he could get back to his general. The land he lived in he held more love for then any person or creature that inhabited it or this world here. A sigh escaped his lips and piercing orbs closed the eyelids covering the forest green and gold that encircled his pupil. Opening them again he turned into the room again his wings stretching to the most of their ability in the enclosed area. He was in much need of a walk having cooped himself up in here for most of the time watching through the window.
Going to the bed he reached for the breast plate and lifting it up he slid it down over his head and the metal slid between the wings on his back. Fastening the leather ties he then reached for the arm guards and the leg guards putting them each in to place one by one. Never did he leave without his armor even in the stronghold. Trust was rare for him, and he did not trust those around him. Next came the black leather gloves that he only didn’t wear if the bird was not accompanying him. And since that rarely happened they rarely came off. A snap of the gloved fingers and the black beast in the corner lifted its head from under its wing and looked it clear eyes at the companion. Flapping his wings twice the raven took to flight and soared across the room to land on the hand that had snapped. It had not taken long to train this beast. He had learned quickly. Granted he was very smart. Garret tilted his head to the side confused that they were going out. Yes this was a rare thing indeed. No doubt the bird could also use a new look around. Granted he did use most of his time outside. Small rodents were easy for the creature to find and so he was able to hunt daily and get his fill then he would come back and sleep.
Stepping towards the door he picked up the ashandarie with the hand that Garret rest upon and the bird moved up to sit on Kane’s shoulder. It was a much more comfortable way that they had found they quite preferred. Opening the door with his freehand the angel stepped out and let it close behind him. Looking both ways down the hall he saw that both were empty. Choosing to go the opposite of the time two days ago he turned to the right and began down to the corner to turn left. It was a pattern he followed but no matter how much it seemed he got lost he could always find his way back to his room. Turning another corner right he came upon a couple more angels with their heads together. The butt of the spear like weapon hit the ground as he walked like one would use a staff for, only this was far more deadly if Kane thought he would need to use it. The two looked up as he passed, no doubt more curious as to why there was a bird on his shoulder then about him. He had not seen many other then Elysia that had a trained animal companion even as he glanced the few other Ka’rath that seemed to have been thrown here. Granted there also seemed few of the clan here, at least that he had seen on his few adventures out of his room.
Turning another corner going left Garret let out an ear piercing screech right next to his ear. Kane didn’t even flinch while others would have even without it right next to his ear. The bird didn’t want to go that way, something unnerved it. Granted Kane had never not listened to the bird before and he would not start to ignore its advice now. Turning he went down the opposite way and all Garret did was ruffle his feathers and settle back into place. The black clad watcher would never know what went through the creature’s head when it did things like that. Just knew that he would listen to the advice, it had kept him alive more then once on the battlefield. The bird suddenly became alert, no longer just relaxed on his companion’s shoulder. The small head turned this way and that even going all the way around to look behind. Something had its attention, probably a sound. Turning left at the next corner the wings opened and black was cut across his vision. A click of the tongue and the beast folded the long appendages back in against its body and Kane saw what had activated the response. A woman stood at the end the hall. Continuing his even steps he waited for her to turn before he would speak.
