A deep sigh escaped the she wolf's lips. How long had it been? Without electricity, clocks weren't kept and calenders weren't of importance anymore. She had lost track of the sunsets and sunrises. She just knew it had been too long because the area felt unfamiliar, but yet, the city felt like home. It was a wonder she had made it back in one piece.
Mikaela's eyes ran over the broken buildings. They hadn't been fixed up and there had been no effort put forth into doing so. It was as if nothing had changed except for more broken glass and graffiti on the walls. The last time she had been here, it had been winter. The cold air was heavy in the atmosphere around her. It felt the same as when she left, but there was more eeriness to the surroundings.
I need time to myself. To figure things out. That was what she had said before she left the safety of the werewolf base. Thinking back to it now, she couldn't remember what she needed to find for herself. Perhaps it was because she felt that she was the weakest out of the bunch. If she went off by herself, she wouldn't need to rely on others, just herself.
Mikaela's boots tapped against the sidewalk as she walked. She was glad for the heightened senses that told her if anyone was near. She hadn't heard or caught scent of anyone yet. Perhaps she had spoke too soon, because she paused, hearing something. Brown orbs scanned the area, but couldn't catch anything. Instead, she slowed her breathing to listen to what was approaching.
