Of course in ways he was different. In others, Jessi couldn’t help but see the old Kigai. Like when he stated she wouldn’t need to ask as he walked passed her. Of course she wouldn’t need to. But if she didn’t the pup knew her stubborn side would make things a bit more complicated. Though she could try to not let it do that. Granted that was almost damn near impossible. Keeping her eyes on him she was able to see that he didn’t stray far before he spoke again. Prey, if he was able to find any she would be impressed. Granted that reminded her of a day not long into her pregnancy where she had a couple of deer visit her by the pond. Granted not many people knew about that day.
His head shifted to look down at her and she made sure to hold that smirk. She was a stubborn creature for sure and she wouldn’t show weakness if she didn’t think she could. Granted that was how a lot of the wolves were living now a days for sure. But her face softened as he commented he would always be nearby. Jessi would never admit how much that meant to her or how much it comforted her. Sure she had all the pack but few meant much to her. Not since Konen left. He had been her world, her other half. He was her twin. And then Kigai left than Pope. She was getting used to the men in her life leaving but this once decided he would be around. Sure not like that but it still counted for something.
“Thank you.” The she wolf finally managed to say and gave him a smile. Not one that many saw anymore. It screamed of her age, the naivity that ran through her body still and the youngness that still plagued her years. It was the smile of someone who hadn’t lived long enough to see all the horrors of the world. “I appreciate the help Kigai.” She said before locking that more innocent side of herself away to give the hotty teenage she always tried to pretend to be. It was her mask, not letting anyone really see the real Jessi. Then again, it had been that real Jessi that two men had fallen for. Perhaps that was the reason she couldn’t show that side of herself anymore.
“Will you be staying in the Mall or out there?” it wasn’t unheard of for wolves to stay out in the city rather than here. Yes this would always be the power center for Strike’s pack but that didn’t mean everyone had to live there. Just like not everyone stayed at the mall at all times. There were always people out moving around. Especially since that treaty with the humans. Though not many of them are allowed to go into the human stronghold that hardly mattered. They still went out on patrols and scouting missions. At least those that were wanting and or able to fight. Jessi didn’t have any issues staying out of the fighting but that made her especially curious about what was going on on the outside. Perhaps she could convince Kigai to keep her informed.
