She straightened her short leather jacket, zipping it after. Her kind was resilient but she still preferred feeling of warmth. The cold wouldn’t really affect her even if it was snowing but that didn’t mean she didn’t like a nice set of warm cloths on. Besides it made her blend in better with the human population. Strange to say that word..human. It was interesting to observe their habits but she had a hard time grasping they were her ancestor race. No wonder the Order wanted to improve them… Celest tried keeping away from them. They were too primitive and destructive to be trusted and she doubted she would be accepted if her origin was found. Their logic was far too limited to allow the possibility of superior creature living with them without some sort of suspicion. Humans were so strange…
Surviving alone among abandoned buildings also meant she had more problems to think of and solve. First, she had to change location often. Staying too long in one place increased chances of predator sniffing you out, be it one of those monster beasts or rouge fledgling. Oh how she despised fledglings… Celest had no fear of vampires but she still despised those mindless sadistic fools that stained the name of specie that made her own kind. Elder vampires were testament to their breed, knowledgeable and distinguished. The Fledglings were more animal than vampire …savage and pathetic beasts often.
Celest recalled first time she killed a vampire. It was very strange. She could have killed her at any time, but that respect for them she had stalled it… She was a very young and naïve Goldenblood back then that new barely few months of freedom. Now it was a different story. Celest has been on her own for years and learned how to survive by herself. Being Homo Aurum also helped.
“Good evening beautiful” man said approaching from the shadows. “Didn’t scare you did I?” her said brushing fingers along his goatee with a grin.
Ugh... the scent of heavy colone alone gave his presence away when he was just entering the street. It was a very thick and musky scent. Do male humans take entire baths in that stuff? She hoped not. That heavy smell would kick them all out of reproduction faster than you can say dodo.
“Not at all” Celest said moving from the wall and adjusting her loose long black hair. “Grams?”
“Right to the point” he smirked coming close “I like that in a woman”
“I suggest you show me the cash before you get fixed by a woman too”
“Spoilsport” he chuckled and threw a sack to her.
Celest opened and checked it...it was approximate to what 600 dollars were once. She unzipped the jacket and pulled out five test tubes filled with blood, tied together with material tightly. The blood in them was hers. She had to get herself supplies in Haven. She needed metal, hunter knives, food, ropes, alcohol… many things that slowly got spent over time. Selling blood was necessary to get the money. Hers would be like a drug to vampires, dessert to those who didn’t enjoy substitute Manor provided. This will be the first and only time she does it. Celest spent a great deal of time covering her tracks and trying to stay off of radar.
“Pleasure of doing business with you” man said.
“Fair warning...” Celest said to the human. “Don’t drop it on the way and do not open it in front of a hungry vampire for testing… only those who fed”
He laughed at the words.
“Don’t worry sugar …I’m a pro” and with those words he disappeared in the alley way.
Celest rolled her eyes. Yes, but something told her he was intellectually challenged. How idiotic do you have to be to deal blood to vampires…as a human. One wrong move and he will be dinner.
It was as she walked away that sudden male scream got her attention and it was from where the dealer went to.
Damn.
