Personality Traits:
-Imaginative- River has a tendency to daydream. He tries not to assume anything about the people he meets but he cannot help but take bits of their stories, well, beautify the rest. This stems from a deep need to see the good in everyone and he hates to focus on negative traits. So instead, he finds silly ways around them.
-Peaceful- River does not like violence. He tries to avoid conflict as much as possible. Though he can fight River is the kind of being that will try to find a solution before pulling out the weapons. Very few things get on his nerves long enough for him to get angry about them.
-Observant- River has never forgotten an observation in his life. He considers the smallest details to be the most revealing and important so be careful what you say to him. It's easy for him to pick up on body language though he can be oblivious to his own. This tendency to map things has always served as an advantage in remembering places, kinships and so on.
- Patient- River is quite aware of how strange he is to people. He has adapted to how his behavior affects others though. He has grown to realize that if you just stay at something for long enough eventually the peoples of this crazed world will give in. He tries not to be a smart-ass and instead focuses on getting others to get to his conclusions, like a teacher.
-Spiritual- River has a deep faith . He believes that if he tries hard enough to understand beings they will work through their issues and reach a sort of harmony. Basically, he thinks if he can get everyone to talk out their problems then all will be right within the world. He acknowledges change and chaos is around every corner but he sees it as natural instead of abnormal. He accepts that the world around him is unstable.
Weaponry:
River tries not to use them but he does have two curved daggers that he enjoys sharpening.

History Summary:
Born into the glory of being a goldenblood, River was always treated like he was special. Shy as he was, after being taught the history of the world he would always get reprimanded for demanding to see it for himself. Though he was happy and satisfied with where he was living because it felt so secure he was curious.
It was that uncharacteristic need to understand by experience that brought him into the presence of Dominic. Almost instantly did the vampire and the goldenblood connect. Dominic gave River the answers he wanted. he told him stories of the outside world and he assured him that one day, once they were bonded, he would show it to him. Oh how River had dreamed of the night when he and his Dominic would explore the world together. He was never afraid and for that reason Dominic loved him.
Then many bad things began to happen. People disappeared and power began to fluctuate. river and the other GBs noted the changes but with repeated assurances from the vampires they tried to let it go. But the changes had their consequences. Losing empathy with other GBs was like dying. River had never felt such horror. At least then he had thought he could not be in any more pain than the loss of such a connection. The sixth sense was gone and he had felt broken.
It was a short lived nightmare. Not long after, a night before he was to be bonded to Dominic, the vampire disappeared. river had never felt so alone. He did not sleep and he did not eat for days and days. Though he was assured that Dominic would return and everything would be fine River knew better. He did not need a sixth sense to know the vampire was dead. So he left. He did not think twice about it. There was nothing left for him where he was.
The outside world turned out to be a scary but amazing place. River is still learning, still adjusting. He is but a wanderer now; analyzing and experiencing the world from Dominic's stories. Though he tries not to look River has yet to find out any bit of information pertaining to the vampire's end.
Post Example:
The fire crackled and popped by his side but River barely paid it any attention; his eyes were on the sky. His hazel eyes sparkled and grew wide like a child's as they reflected the stars. He knew he should have been keeping his attention to the venison he was cooking but...they were so beautiful. There were very few things River found beautiful. Sure he often found things fascinating, interesting, even phenomenal, but very rarely was he wowed by some thing's beauty. Yet here, reclining on the soft grass of the small hill he had climbed the sky was taking his breath away. Tell me a story. He closed his eyes, frowning. A sudden tightness filled his chest and he found it a bit difficult to breathe. Ripping his attention from the beauty of the sky he forced himself to focus on the food he was cooking. Everything was still under control, as expected. He found it annoying how the fire had not even attempted to get a bit unruly. Why was it that when he wanted to be distracted his surroundings stayed calm and tranquil. It was quite useless really. He knew what to do in these situations though. River had trained himself in a serious of tasks that led to absolute distractions from his unwanted thoughts. First and foremost was the sharpening of his blades. Reaching into his leather satchel he pulled out the jagged things and grabbed himself a rock from the ground. They were easy weapons to take care of, daggers. All River really had to do was move the rock over the edges. It was not a lot of upkeep and since he tried to use the dangerous blades for mostly hunting, he still appreciated how ferocious yet simple they were to handle. The sharpening motion was soothing to the goldenblood. It calmed his mind, lulled him. A flash of a fang at the end of his grin. A sparkle in his green eyes. They were clear signs of surrender and River loved the way they looked on Dominic. Losing focus on his task river nipped the edge of his thumb on the teeth of one of his daggers. Angry with himself for not being able to let the memory go he sighed deeply. A few drops of blood fell on the blade. It was funny how the very drops that fell from him now were to blame for the unwanted memories surging. Though many had tried to convince River otherwise the goldenblood was sure that Dominic was dead because he had loved him. Love was a weakness and he had corrupted the vampire. Taking the venison quickly from the fire he began to dig into it as a distraction but it was too late. The memory was overwhelming now. Wrapped in the vampire's arms River listened carefully. Dominic told him about the stars and the moon and all the things he had been told about and seen in pictures. It was never condescending when Dominic spoke to him about these things though. To River the very sound of the vampire's voice was soothing. Dominic could have been telling him about the soles of his shoes and the goldenblood would still have found the story fascinating. It was moments like this that River knew that he had made the right choice. He would be with Dominic forever. The hill was suddenly cold and lonely to him now. The fire was still crackling strong but river could not find solace in its warmth. Silently he ate the venison, ripping it apart with shaky hands. He did not bother to look up at the stars for the rest of the night. He did not need any more reminders. |
