A growl of annoyance rattled Celestina’s throat as she slammed another book close and shoved it back into its place on the shelf. She had been looking through the library’s set of books all day. Any information on lycanism would help her. Her stubborn ego wouldn’t take the option of asking the pack for help.
Celestina whipped around from the bookcase, placing her back against it. Slowly, her legs slid from underneath her until she was seated on the ground. She brought her hands to her head and cradled her head as if she had a headache coming on. Sharp, rattled breaths escaped her lips as she tried to focus her mind.
Celestina had had no choice in joining the pack. As a wolf and human, she craved the companionship of those near to her, but as a reasonable and worried human, she thought it better if she continued to keep her distance. The inner she-wolf growled at her at the thought of it being suppressed. Celestina lashed out with angry comments that made it snort and lay it’s head back down.
Slowly, but surely they were coming on to an even playing field. Celestina was slowly realizing she needed the wolf’s power to protect herself nowadays. And in return, the wolf realized it needed Celestina’s rational thinking in battle. It was a smart creature and knew when it had a tool it could use. Celestina’s only drawback was the full moons where she still blacked out.
She pushed herself up off the dirty ground. Her hands ran over the fabric of her dark wash jeans to remove the dust off them. Brown orbs looked to the windows of the library where the sun had disappeared behind the horizon. She shook her head, amazed she had stayed the whole day in the library. She hadn’t done that since college. With a new calm, she reached out and took a book from the shelf and opened it up. Her eyes scanning for information she could use to help with the blackouts she still had.
